| 1. A remote sensing unit, comprising:
a plurality of sensors that are configured to collect sensed data;
a storage unit that is configured to at least temporarily store the collected sensed data;
a processor that is configured to analyze the collected sensed data to determine if an incident has occurred; and
a communications unit that is configured to communicate with at least some of a plurality of additional remote sensing units
in response to a determination that an incident has occurred,
wherein the communications unit is configured to request and receive data from the plurality of additional remote sensing
units in response to a determination that an incident has occurred, and
wherein the communications unit is further configured to at least periodically broadcast identification and location information.
