1. A polycyclic compound represented by formula (I):

R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11, R12, R13 and R14 are independently of each other hydrogen, an unsubstituted or substituted C6-C24aryl group, an unsubstituted or substituted C1-C30heteroaryl group, an unsubstituted or substituted C1-C25alkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted C7-C25aralkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted C5-C12cycloalkyl group, —NR15R16, —OR17, —SR18, —SiR19R20R21, —CN or halogen,
wherein
two of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11 and R12, if present at adjacent carbon atoms, together may form an unsubstituted or substituted C6-C18aryl ring;
L1 is a direct bond, an unsubstituted or substituted C6-C24arylene group, or an unsubstituted or substituted C1-C30heteroarylene group; and
Ar1 is an unsubstituted or substituted C6-C24aryl group, or an unsubstituted or substituted C1-C30heteroaryl group;
R15 and R16 are independently of each other H, a C6-C18aryl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by at least one C1-C18alkyl group or at least one C1-C18alkoxy group, a C1-C18alkyl group or a C1-C18alkyl group, which is interrupted by at least one O, or
R15 and R16 together form a five or six membered aliphatic, aromatic or heteroaromatic ring;
R17 and R18 are independently of each other H, a C6-C18aryl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by at least one C1-C18alkyl group or at least one C1-C18alkoxy group, a C1-C18alkyl group or a C1-C18alkyl group, which is interrupted by at least one O;
R19, R20 and R21 are independently of each other a C1-C18alkyl group, a C6-C18aryl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by at least one C1-C18alkyl group.
