11. An apparatus configured for operation in a target device, the apparatus comprising:
one or more processors; and
a memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors and storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the target device to:
initiate transfer of cellular wireless service preferences, from a source device to the target device, for an electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) of the target device;
determine whether a value for the eSIM of the target device matches to a corresponding value of a corresponding eSIM of the source device; and
when the value matches, apply a set of preferences for the corresponding eSIM of the source device to the eSIM of the target device,
wherein matching is based at least in part on:
a mapping of a first integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) value of the eSIM of the source device to a second ICCID value of the eSIM of the target device; and
an activation state for each of the eSIM of the target device and the eSIM of the source device, wherein the activation state includes an active/on state or an inactive/off state.
