20. A surgical planning system comprising:
a computer including a memory, a processor and a display;
a hospital information system (HIS) in communication with the computer and operably connected to one or more of a picture archiving system (PACS), a radiology information system (RIS), an electronic medical records (EMR) system, a laboratory information system (LIS) or a cost and inventory system (CIS);
a first application stored in the memory and executable by the processor of the computer to, upon receiving data via the HIS, generate a pre-operative plan for navigating to an area of interest (AOI), perform a procedure at the AOI, and cause display of the pre-operative plan on the display via a user interface, wherein the pre-operative plan includes a computational lung model (CLM) of a lung in a collapsed state of at least a portion of a surgical site, and wherein the pre-operative plan includes estimating remaining respiratory function parameters of the lung after a portion of the lung is removed;
a second application stored in the memory and executable by the processor to receive live image data from a thoracoscope during the surgical procedure, the live image data including a location of the thoracoscope within the body cavity of the patient where the live images were taken, wherein the second application, when executed by the processor, causes display of a live image of the surgical site received from the thoracoscope and an overall view of the CLM, the overall view of the CLM being displayed on the user interface as a picture-in-picture, a side-by-side view, or as a superimposition such that one or more areas of interest identified in the pre-operative plan are observable on the display, the overall view of the CLM including an indication of the location where the live images were taken and updates the overall view of the CLM and an orientation of the updated overall view of the CLM in real-time based on the received live image data.
