1. An authentication device comprising:
a storage configured to store a plurality of reliability scores of eyes pertaining to each of a plurality of registrants, each reliability score representing an ease of identification of the eye of the registrant to which the reliability score pertains and corresponding eyes of others;
a memory configured to store instructions; and
at least one processor configured to execute the instructions to:
acquire a first image and a second image from an image device, the image device configured to select the first image from a plurality of images, the plurality of images being obtained by capturing an object of authentication moving in a specific direction at different timings, the first image including a body image of the object of authentication, and select, as the second image, another image from the plurality of images, the second image obtained by capturing an eye of the object of authentication;
determine whether the eye captured in the second image is of a left eye or a right eye of the object of authentication using the first image;
calculate a verification score with respect to the object of authentication by comparing iris characteristic information on an iris of the eye in the second image with one or more sets of iris characteristic information calculated from irises of the eyes of the others as stored in the storage;
specify the object of authentication based on the verification score;
calculate a weighted verification score by weighting the verification score with the reliability score stored in the storage pertaining to the specified object of authentication and the eye captured in the second image;
determine whether the object of authentication is one of the plurality of registrants to be authenticated using the weighted verification score; and
output an authentication result.
