and
one or more clay treatment composition agents comprising a flowback aid, additional clay stabilizer, crosslinker or a combination thereof,
wherein:
X is NH or O;
R2 is H, CH3, or an unsubstituted, linear or branched C2-C10 alkyl, alkenyl, or alkynyl group;
R3 is absent or an unsubstituted, linear C1-C30 alkylene group;
Y is —NR4R5R6(+) or a salt thereof; and
wherein R4, R5, and R6 are independently CH3 or wherein R4 and R5 are independently CH3 and R6 is a C2-C12 aromatic alkyl, or wherein R4 and R5 are independently CH3, and R6 is —CH2—C6H6;
wherein the compound is a multiple charged cationic compound having between 3 and 30 positive charges; and
wherein the treatment composition stabilizes swellable clays.
