1. A surface cleaning apparatus comprising:
(a) a surface cleaning head having a front end having a dirty air inlet;
(b) a pedestal member moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head between a storage position and a floor cleaning position,
(c) a wand removably connectable in air flow communication with the pedestal member;
(d) a portable surface cleaning unit removably mounted to the pedestal member, the portable surface cleaning unit comprising a front portion, a rear portion, a carry handle, a suction motor and an air treatment member, the air treatment member is removably mounted to a body of the portable surface cleaning unit, the portable surface cleaning unit having a central plane extending from the front portion to the rear portion, the central plane bisecting the portable surface cleaning unit;
(e) an air treatment member lock releasably securing the air treatment member in position on the portable surface cleaning unit, the air treatment member lock comprising an air treatment member lock release actuator; and,
(f) a portable surface cleaning unit lock releasably securing the portable surface cleaning unit in position on the pedestal member, the portable surface cleaning unit lock comprising a portable surface cleaning unit lock release actuator,
wherein the wand is remountable in air flow communication with the pedestal member while the portable surface cleaning unit remains mounted to the pedestal member, and
wherein, when the portable surface cleaning unit is mounted to the pedestal member and the pedestal member is in the storage position, the air treatment member release actuator is provided on an upper end portion of the air treatment member and is removable from the portable surface cleaning unit with the air treatment member and,
wherein when the portable surface cleaning unit is mounted to the pedestal member and the pedestal member is in the storage position, the portable surface cleaning unit release actuator is provided on the body at the rear portion of the portable surface cleaning unit, on an upper end portion of the portable surface cleaning unit and laterally offset from the central plane, wherein the portable surface cleaning unit lock release actuator is removable from the pedestal member with the portable surface cleaning unit.
