| 1. A spectroscopic system for determining of a property of a substance at a plurality of volumes of interest comprising:
a base station having a multi-channel spectroscopic analysis unit and a light source for providing excitation radiation;
a plurality of a probe heads directing the excitation radiation into the plurality of volumes of interest and collecting return
radiation emanating from the plurality of volumes of interest;
a plurality of bidirectional optical coupling fibers, each optical coupling fiber carrying excitation radiation to a corresponding
probe head and return radiation from the corresponding probe head;
an optical router (a) selectively channeling the excitation radiation to the optical coupling fiber corresponding to each
of the probe heads and (b) selectively switching the return radiation from the optical coupling fiber corresponding to each
of the probe heads to a selected channel of the multi-channel spectroscopic analysis unit.
