| 1. A gel composition for treatment of a device contaminated with prions, comprising:
peroxide at a molar concentration of at least 1.5 M;
at least 5% of a humectant; and
a thickener in a sufficient amount to provide a viscosity of 700-4000 cps;
at least 0.1% by weight of a corrosion inhibitor selected from the group consisting of azoles, diazoles, and triazoles; and
a hydrogen peroxide stabilizer.
