1. A compound of formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester, or amide thereof, wherein:
one of R1 and R2 is a group of the formula -L2-R6a-L3-R6b;
the other of R1 and R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, cyano, and thioalkoxy;
R3, R3a, and R3b are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, cyano, and thioalkoxy;
R4 and R5 are each independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, fluoroalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, and cycloalkyl, or R4 and R5 taken together with the nitrogen atom to which each is attached form a non-aromatic ring of the formula:

R7, R8, R9, and R10 at each occurrence are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxyalkyl, fluoroalkyl, cycloalkyl, and alkyl;
R11, R12, R13, and R14 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxyalkyl, alkyl, and fluoroalkyl;
R6a is a 5- to 6-membered heteroaryl ring, or an 8- to 10-membered bicyclic heteroaryl ring;
R6b is hydrogen,
Q is O or S;
L is —[C(R16)(R17)]k;
L2 is a bond;
L3 is a bond;
R16 and R17 at each occurrence are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl;
Rx and Ry at each occurrence are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylamino, fluoro, and dialkylamino;
k is 0, 1, or 2;
m is an integer from 1 to 5; and
n is 0 or 1.
