1. A method for decreasing gastric acid secretion by activating PAR-2, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a peptide comprising at least one sequence selected from the group consisting of Ser-Leu-Ile-Gly-Arg-Leu-NH2 (SEQ ID NO: 1) and trans-cinnamoyl-Leu-Ile-Gly-Arg-Leu-ornithine-NH2 (SEQ ID NO: 2).
