| 7. A method for operating a data processing apparatus having a dual rail circuit component and a control unit, which is coupled
to the dual rail circuit component, for production of drive signals for the dual rail circuit component, the method comprising:
receiving at the control unit an operating mode selection signal;
producing drive signals for the dual rail circuit component as a function of the operating mode selection signal;
operating the circuit component in a security mode or in a power saving mode as a function of the drive signals, wherein complementary
data is processed in the security mode and the power saving mode; and
deactivating security measures in the power saving mode.
