| 1. A thermally assisted magnetic recording medium to be rotated in recording information, comprising:
a substrate including a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface;
a recording layer formed on the first surface of the substrate, the recording layer including a plurality of recording tracks
extending in parallel about a center of rotation of the recording medium; and
a plurality of thermally conductive regions provided at the first surface of the substrate and extending in parallel about
the enter of rotation of the recording medium, the plurality of thermally conductive regions being arranged alternately with
the plurality of recording tracks, respectively;
wherein the thermally conductive regions have a higher thermal conductivity than the substrate, each of the regions being
at least partially embedded in the substrate.
