| 1. A method implementing track following control in a hard disk drive (HDD) operating in a write mode or a read mode, the
HDD comprising an estimator providing estimated state information for a head, and a controller controlling operation of a
head disk assembly (HDA) moving the head in response to the estimated state information and generating a corresponding position
error signal, the method comprising:
configuring the estimator and controller differently based on whether the HDD is operating in the write mode or the read mode;
and
performing track following control using the differently configured estimator and controller.
