1. A method for use in a communication network that comprises switches interconnected by links, at least ones of said links having respective circuits thereon, the method comprising
detecting that at least one of said links has failed, and
initiating the restoration of failed circuits that were on said at least one of said links that failed, wherein the initiation of the restoration of at least one of said failed circuits is delayed by at least a selected amount of delay relative to the initiation of the restoration of at least one other of said failed circuits,
wherein said selected amount of delay depends on which one of a plurality of classes of circuits said at least one of said failed circuits belongs to.
