| 1. An interface for controlling a magnetic navigation system that applies a magnetic field in a selected direction to an operating
region in a subject to magnetically orient a medical device in the operating region, the interface comprising:
a display on which a representation of the current orientation of the medical device; and a selector for selecting one of
a plurality of patterns of new orientations of the device is displayed;
an input device for selecting one of the plurality of patterns of new orientations; and
a processor for orienting the magnetic medical device in each of the orientations in the selected pattern.
