| 1. A regulating device, comprising:
a means of controlling electrical current;
a means to connect said control to a rotor field coil of an alternator;
a means to protect the control means from transient conditions;
a means to protect the control means from an environmental corrosion;
a means to connect the device to an engine electrical system harness of wiring;
a means to package the entire device; and
a means to removably secure the package to the alternator
wherein said device is electrically coupled between a high side and ground side of the rotor to provide the rotor current
and excite its field.
