1. A method for inhibiting angiogenesis comprising the steps of:
specifically detecting activity of Kuz (also called ADAM 10) in a vertebrate animal predetermined to have a pathogenic angiogenesis;
contacting the animal with a metalloprotease inhibitor tospecifically inhibit the activity of the Kuz in the animal; and
detecting a resultant inhibition of angiogenesis in the animal using a measure selected from the group consisting of blood flow paramenters, microvessel density, and vascular endothelial growth factor levels.
