| 1. A method for limiting the power output of an internal combustion engine (1), comprising the steps of:
determining an air mass flow deviation (dmL) of an actual air mass flow (mL(IST)) from a reference air mass flow (mL(REF)),
determining, depending on the air mass flow deviation, an engine power output reduction (dP) by which an engine power output
(PMAX) limit of the internal combustion engine (1) is to be reduced in order to prevent overheating of the internal combustion engine, and establishing such limit.
