| 1. An information collecting apparatus, comprising:
an obtaining unit configured to obtain counter information from an image forming apparatus;
a transmission unit configured to transmit the counter information obtained by said obtaining unit to a remote monitoring
apparatus;
a discrimination unit configured to discriminate whether the image forming apparatus is connected locally or via a network;
a detection unit configured to send a request for response to the image forming apparatus and detect a response to the request
from the image forming apparatus, if said discrimination unit discriminates that the image forming apparatus is connected
locally; and
an executing unit configured to execute a rebooting process of said information collecting apparatus, if said detection unit
does not detect the response from the image forming apparatus, wherein said executing unit does not execute the rebooting
process, if said detection unit detects the response.
