| 1. A lid for a container of a hot fluid, the lid comprising:
a surface having an opening for dispensing the hot fluid; and
a valve having an open position for dispensing the hot fluid and a closed position for substantially stopping the flow of
the hot fluid from the container when a temperature of the hot fluid is more than a predetermined threshold temperature, the
valve having a shape memory actuator comprising a shape memory material which changes its shape in response to the hot fluid
having a temperature above the threshold temperature to actuate the valve into the closed position.
