| 6. A cold cathode comprising:
a supporting body that has conductivity;
an insulating diamond film formed on the supporting body, the insulating diamond film having an exposed surface to be exposed
to a discharge gas; and
an insulating layer that is not a diamond film, and insulates electrically the supporting body from the exposed surface of
the insulating diamond film.
