| 1. A process for the isolation of calliterpenone from plant genus Callicarpa, the process comprising the steps of:
a. drying leaves of Callicarpa macrophylla;
b. grinding dry leaves of Callicarpa macrophylla to make a powder;
c. heating the powder with an aqueous solution to obtain an aqueous extract; wherein the aqueous solution comprises between
about 1 and about 5 wt % alkali;
d. concentrating the aqueous extract to form a concentrated extract wherein a volume of the concentrated extract is less than
a volume of the aqueous extract;
e. extracting the concentrated extract with a water immiscible organic solvent at a temperature to form an organic extract;
wherein the water immiscible organic solvent is selected from the group consisting of pentane, hexane, diethyl ether, ethyl
ether, dichloromethane and butanol;
f. concentrating the organic extract to form crude calliterpenone; and
g. purifying the crude calliterpenone to form calliterpenone.
