| 1. A transgenic, disease-resistant plant which has been transformed with an expression cassette comprising: a constitutive promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid that encodes a harpin; wherein the transgenic plant expresses the harpin in an amount effective for inducing a defense reaction, and wherein the harpin has the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2. |
