1. A thin film transistor comprising at least three terminals consisting of a gate electrode, a source electrode and a drain
electrode; an insulator layer and an organic semiconductor layer on a substrate, which controls an electric current flowing
between the source and the drain by applying an electric voltage across the gate electrode, wherein the organic semiconductor
layer comprises a styryl compound represented by a following general formula (a):
![]() wherein R1, R2, R4, R5, R14, R15, R17, and R18 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, an alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms,
a haloalkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, an alkoxyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a haloalkoxyl group having 1
to 30 carbon atoms, an alkylthio group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a haloalkylthio group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, an
alkylamino group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a dialkylamino group having 2 to 60 carbon atoms, wherein alkyl groups of the
dialkylamino group do not bond to each other, or bond to each other to form a ring structure containing a nitrogen atom, an
alkylsulfonyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a haloalkylsulfonyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, all of those have
or do not have a substituent;
R3 and R16 represent the same groups and are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, an alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms,
a haloalkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, an alkoxyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a haloalkoxyl group having 1
to 30 carbon atoms, an alkylthio group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a haloalkylthio group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, an
alkylamino group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a dialkylamino group having 2 to 60 carbon atoms, wherein alkyl groups of the
dailkylamino group do not bond to each other, or bond to each other to form a ring structure containing a nitrogen atom, an
alkylsulfonyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, or a haloalkylsulfonyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, all of those may
have a substituent;
R6 to R13 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, an alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms,
a haloalkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, an alkoxyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a haloalkoxyl group having 1
to 30 carbon atoms, an alkylthio group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a haloalkylthio group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, an
alkylamino group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, a dialkylamino group having 2 to 60 carbon atoms wherein alkyl groups of the
dialkylamino group do not bond to each other, or bond to each other to form a ring structure containing a nitrogen atom, an
alkylsulfonyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, or a haloalkylsulfonyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, all of those may
have a substituent;
R19to R22each independently represents a hydrogen atom,a halogen a cyano group, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a haloalkyl
group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkoxyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a haloakoxyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms,
an alkylthio group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a haloalkylthio group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkylamino group having
1 to 6 carbon atoms, a dialkylamino group having 2 to 12 carbon atoms wherein alkyl groups of the dialkylamino group do not
bond to each other, or bond to each other to form a ring structure containing a nitrogen atom, an alkylsulfonyl group having
1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a haloalkylsufonyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, all of those may have a substituent; and
l, m and n each represents an integer of 0 to 10; and a sum of l+m+n makes an integer of 2 to 20.
