1. In an aerosol composition suitable for coating automobile exteriors, where the aerosol composition is pressurized in a container with a propellant, the improvement being that said aerosol composition includes water, an organic solvent, and a polyvinyl alcohol composition, the polyvinyl alcohol composition comprising:
(a) from 50 to 99 wt % based on the total amount of polyvinyl alcohol resin present, of a partially hydrolyzed first polyvinyl alcohol resin having a degree of hydrolysis in the range of from about 80 to about 90 percent; and
(b) from 1 to 50 wt % based on the total amount of polyvinyl alcohol resin present, of a second polyvinyl alcohol resin selected from the group consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol resin having a degree of hydrolysis in the range from 91 percent to 95 percent, and a polyvinyl alcohol resin having a degree of hydrolysis in the range from 95 to 99.5 percent;
wherein the organic solvent is miscible with water, and wherein the organic solvent has a boiling point in the range from 60° C. to 100° C.
