| 1. A method for selecting an alternate channel in a wireless communications device, comprising the steps of:
obtaining information about a plurality of available channels;
assigning a score to each of said plurality of available channels, wherein said score is based on channel state information
and system state information, wherein said system state information includes one or more of buffer state information and error
information;
selecting an alternate channel from said plurality of available channels based on said score.
