1. A method of estimating a magnetic pole position in a synchronous motor, comprising the steps of:
calculating an induced voltage of the motor, to which an alternating current voltage is applied and from which an alternating current is detected, from components of the applied alternating current voltage in a two-phase alternating current coordinates system and components of the detected alternating current in the two-phase alternating current coordinates system; and
estimating a magnetic pole position in the motor from the induced voltage; and
controlling the motor according to the estimated magnetic pole position;
wherein the alternating current consists of waves having a wave height of which a differentiated value with respect to time is substantially set at zero.
