| 1. An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle that has a side structure and a roof, said apparatus comprising:
an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device that is inflatable away from the vehicle roof to a deployed position between
the side structure of the vehicle and a vehicle occupant; and
an inflation fluid source for providing inflation fluid to inflate portions of said inflatable vehicle occupant protection
device;
said inflatable vehicle occupant protection device including a base panel and an attachment panel connected to said base panel,
said base panel having a first size, said attachment panel having a second size that is smaller than the first size and a
configuration that corresponds to a configuration of portions of said inflatable vehicle occupant protection device that are
to be inflated, said inflatable vehicle occupant protection device being inflated only in said portions.
