1. A method for using a plurality of virtual backup service paths to dynamically switch between storage devices based on a plurality of backup scenarios, the method comprising:
defining a plurality of backup service groups containing at least one client;
defining a plurality of scenarios that each reference at least one virtual backup service path, wherein each virtual backup service path is defined by at least one network address identifying one of the storage devices;
determining which scenario of the plurality of scenarios is applicable based on a service level of the storage devices;
selecting the virtual backup service path identified by the applicable scenario; and
assigning a priority level to at least some of the backup service groups, wherein the priority level is used when determining which scenario is applicable.
