| 1. A method of evaluating body mass in a mouse comprising:
i) obtaining an adipose tissue sample from the mouse;
ii) isolating mRNA from the sample;
iii) analyzing said mRNA to determine the quantity of MCP-1 mRNA of SEQ ID NO. 11; and
iv) determining that said mouse has a propensity for increased body mass if there is at least a 500% increase in the level
of MCP-1 mRNA of SEQ ID NO: 11 relative to a control, or a propensity for decreased body mass if there is a least a 70% decrease
in the level of MCP-1 mRNA of SEQ ID NO: 11 relative to a control.
