1. A biometric imaging device for imaging a biological feature, the biometric imaging device comprising:
means for sensing the biological feature and for providing sensed image data relating to an image of a surface of the biological feature;
means for detecting an effect of a sensed environmental parameter on the biological feature, wherein the sensed environmental parameter is other than a parameter relating to surface topology of the biological feature; and
processing means for correcting or restoring the sensed image data in dependence upon the detected environmental parameter.
