| 1. An apparatus for tuning a stringed musical instrument, the apparatus comprising:
a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) recorded within a core of an optical fiber; and
a holding member connected to the optical fiber and removably connected to the instrument in which vibration of a string of
the instrument is transmitted to the optical fiber through the holding member;
wherein the transmitted vibration causes light reflected by the FBG to alter, the altered reflected light is converted into
a frequency that is compared to a predetermined frequency of a musical note to determine whether the musical instrument is
well-tuned.
