24 Claims

1. An isolated or purified variant of Humicola EGIII or EGIII-like cellulase, wherein said variant comprises an amino acid string of SEQ ID NO: 25, SEQ ID NO: 26, SEQ ID NO: 27, SEQ ID NO: 28, or SEQ ID NO: 29 and, a substitution at a position corresponding to one or more residues selected from the group consisting of P201, G170 and V210 in EGIII of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the variant has cellulolytic activity.
