1. A disc loading/unloading mechanism for loading/unloading a disc by guiding the disc along a fixed disc guide (53) fixed to a housing and a floating disc guide (54) fixed to a floating chassis, the floating chassis having a pickup and a disc motor on the floating chassis, the floating disc guide being disposed on the same side as the fixed disc guide with respect to the disc to be loaded, the disc loading/unloading mechanism having a slanted guide portion (53a) provided in the fixed disc guide and a slanted guide portion (55a, 55b, 55c) provided in the floating disc guide, wherein the slanted guide portion of the fixed disc guide and the slanted guide portion of the floating disc guide are disposed at different positions along a direction perpendicular to a disc transport direction and at overlapping positions along the disc transport direction to reduce a disc transport length, the slanted guide portions being spaced apart by a distance allowing a motion stroke of the floating chassis.
