1. A settable fluid comprising:
an aqueous-based drilling fluid capable of carrying drill cuttings, wherein the drilling fluid comprises:
water present in an amount sufficient for using the aqueous-based drilling fluid for drilling in a subterranean formation; and
at least one additive selected from the group consisting of a viscosifier, a weighting material, a thinner, and a filtration control agent; and
cement kiln dust present in the settable fluid in an amount in the range of from about 1% to about 25% by weight of the settable fluid.
