1. A method of detecting the presence of A. actinomycetemcomitans or an A. actinomycetemcomitans antigen in a test sample comprising contacting the test sample with an antibody or a fragment thereof, wherein the fragment is a Fab, Fab′, Fab′-SH, F(ab′)2, or Fv fragment, that specifically binds to a polypeptide consisting of SEQ ID NO:146, and detecting an immunocomplex comprising A. actinomycetemcomitans or an A. actinomycetemcomitans antigen and the antibody or fragment thereof, wherein detection of the immunocomplex indicates the presence of A. actinomycetemcomitans or an A. actinomycetemcomitans antigen in the test sample.
