1. A computer implemented method for relating events to times, the method comprising:
detecting a user's sliding of a selector mechanism from (a) a first position on a timeline to (b) a second position on the timeline, wherein the selector mechanism comprises a before date endpoint and an after date endpoint, wherein a duration of a temporal interval covered by the selector mechanism is based on a width of the selector mechanism between the before date endpoint and the after date endpoint; and
in response to detecting the sliding of the selector mechanism to the second position, displaying text that describes at least one event that occurred during a temporal interval covered by the selector mechanism, wherein the sliding of the selector mechanism from the first position to the second position alters the duration of the temporal interval covered by the selector mechanism while the width of the selector mechanism remains the same.
