1. A method of producing a wax ester in a host cell comprising the steps of
growing a host cell having a recombinant nucleic acid construct comprising a promoter functional in said host cell and a nucleic acid sequence encoding a wax synthase, wherein the amino acid sequence of said wax synthase is SEQ ID NO: 2 and said host cell comprises an endogenous fatty acyl-CoA reductase and a β-ketoacyl-CoA synthase;
and obtaining expression of said nucleic acid encoding said wax synthase, wherein said host cell comprises a fatty alcohol substrate of said wax synthase, and said wax ester is produced in said host cell.
