| 1. A method of treating a patient with an alcohol addiction, comprising:
implanting one or more system control units in the patient, wherein one or more of the system control units are connected
to and control one or more electrodes and/or drug delivery catheters that are implanted in the brain of the patient; and
delivering a stimulus configured to treat the alcohol addiction with one or more of the system control units via the one or
more electrodes and/or drug delivery catheters to at least one of an anterior insula and a dorsal putamen.
