| 1. A carrierless electrophoresis method, comprising the steps of:
(a) carrying out a coarse fractionation of a sample substance by carrierless electrophoresis in a first separation space as
a first stage;
(b) carrying out a fine fractionation of a targeted portion of the coarsely fractionated sample substances by carrierless
electrophoresis in a second separation space as a second stage, wherein a smaller number of fractionation sites are used in
step (a) than in step (b) wherein the first and second separation spaces are adjacent to one another and comprise at least
one electrode positioned between the first and second separation spaces; and
(c) optionally repeating step (b) one or more times.
