1. Sprocket for engaging and disengaging a transmission chain as the chain moves between adjacent sprockets of different diameters, the sprocket comprising:
a plurality of teeth that follow each other on the sprocket separated by spaces according to a direction of rotation of the sprocket, in which each tooth has a thickness, a width and a height and presents a lead side, a following side, a front side and a rear side;
a front bevel on at least one tooth of first disengagement of said plurality of teeth, said front bevel extending between the front side and the lead side up to at most a base of a space in front of the tooth of first disengagement, no bevel portion being provided in a middle point of said space in front of the tooth of first disengagement; and
a rear bevel on at least one tooth of last engagement of said plurality of teeth, said rear bevel extending between the rear side and the following side up to at most a base of a space behind the tooth of last engagement, no bevel portion being provided in a middle point of said space behind the tooth of last engagement; and
wherein one of the front or rear bevels extends further than the other.
