1. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding an enzymatically active histone deacetylase-7 (HDAC-7) polypeptide, wherein said HDAC-7-encoding nucleotide sequence has at least 95% nucleotide sequence identity to the coding region of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the encoded HDAC-7 polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 95% sequence identity to the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:2.
