| 1. A memory system, comprising:
a flash memory adapted to store a file allocation table (FAT) containing FAT information; and
a controller adapted to read the FAT information and selectively copy data stored in a first block of the flash memory to
a second block of the flash memory based on the FAT information during a merge operation.
