| 1. A method of etching stone comprising:
applying a mask material to a surface of a stone slab;
etching the mask using a laser to remove portions of the mask material and expose selected portions of the surface of the
stone slab to form a design in the mask, wherein the laser etches the surface of the stone slab during etching of the mask;
and
applying a chemical corrosive agent to at least the portions of the surface of the stone slab exposed by the design in the
mask to engrave the surface of the stone slab to form a corresponding design in the surface of the stone slab.
