| 25. A method for power adaptation in a multicarrier code division multiple access communication system, the method comprising:
estimating channel power gains for a multiplicity of sub-carriers for a multiplicity of signals received from a multiplicity
of transmitting stations, to obtain estimated channel power gains;
calculating one or more sets of transmitter power gains for transmitter amplifiers of each sub-carrier associated with one
or more of the transmitting stations, using the estimated channel power gains, wherein said calculating includes at least
one type of calculating technique selected from at least one of:
a time-domain technique comprising distributing transmitter power over all sub-carriers available to a particular transmitting
station and adapting transmitter power for each transmitted symbol on each sub-carrier to maintain a desired receiver signal
strength; or
a frequency-domain technique comprising distributing transmitter power over a subset of the sub-carriers available to a particular
transmitting station, the subset comprising a set of sub-carriers available to the particular transmitting station and having
highest estimated channel power gains; and
feeding back the one or more calculated sets of transmitter power gains to the respective transmitting stations.
