1. A method of making a chlorohydrin comprising:
a) contacting an olefin gas with a chlorinating agent in an aqueous phase to form a gas-liquid stream; and
b) flowing the gas-liquid stream through a high shear device so as to form a dispersion with bubbles having an average diameter less than about 1 μm, and form a chlorohydrin.
