1. A cooling jacket for a container comprising:
a jacket body comprising an outer layer, wherein at least a portion of the outer layer comprises a porous matrix that allows for the passage of vapor from a liquid within the jacket body such that pervaporation or evaporation of the vapor cools the liquid within the jacket body, wherein the porous matrix comprises a film membrane or a sintered matrix;
an inner layer coextensive with the outer layer and in fluid communication with the outer layer, wherein the cooling jacket is adapted to hold a liquid; and
wherein the jacket body is shaped to allow the inner layer to maintain contact with at least a portion of the container.
