1. A multi-piece golf ball comprising a core, an intermediate layer enclosing the core, and a cover layer which encloses the intermediate layer and has on an outside surface thereof a plurality of dimples, wherein the cover layer is harder than the intermediate layer; letting A be the thickness of the intermediate layer, B be the thickness of the cover layer and C be the diameter of the core, 65≧C/A≧31 and 65≧C/B≧30; a specific gravity of the core ranges from 1.0 to 1.2, a specific gravity of the intermediate layer ranges from 0.88 to 1.00, and the ball has an initial velocity, as measured by a method set forth in the Rules of Golf using an initial velocity measuring apparatus of the same type as the USGA drum rotation-type initial velocity instrument, of at least 77.0 m/s.
