Request for Continued Examination (RCE)

• Effect on continued prosecution application (CPA) practice:

• CPA practice is restricted to--

  • design applications
  • utility and plant applications (prior applications as to the CPA) filed before May 29, 2000

• CPAs are expected to phase out over time (within 2-3 years) in utility and plant applications in favor of RCE practice
